Valentines Day is fast approaching so I’ve found some cheap deals to share, plus a few ideas on how to avoid paying over the odds for the most hyped up ‘holiday’ of the year.Flowers- The cost of a single rose pretty much quadruples over Valentines Day, even florists themselves are paying top whack to their suppliers for them. One alternative is to avoid roses and buy a different flower, however Valentines Day is still the busiest day of year for Florists so expect inflated prices. I personally like the idea of receiving something a bit different like a posh Orchid, cheaper and lasts much longer.
However, if only Roses will do then head over to Morrisons where you will find some ridiculously cheap deals on bouquets with a dozen red roses costing £5!Chocolates- I LOVE chocolate treats from Hotel Chocolat but they often come with a premium price tag, I’ve spied an end of season selection box for a fantastic £10. Hotel Chocolat change their collections frequently and when they have end of line stock they sell it at a reduced price-bargain! What’s more if you’re an O2 customer you can use your O2 Priority to nab a totally free chocolate slab this week.
Cards- Struggling for time or just wanting to avoid the greeting card aisle altogether, then make your card online. Not only will you get extra brownie points for uploading a photo but they post it to you so it’s hassle free. Whats more is there’s 25% off Funky Pigeon and you can earn cashback !
Dining-Out- Valentines Day falls on a Sunday this year, which means you could dine-out on the Saturday evening before. Restaurant chains like Pizza Express are running set menu offers for £16.95 per head for 2 courses and a glass of prosecco, or alternatively opt to dine-in.
If you can’t be bothered to prep, grab a supermarket dine in for two deal, although most of them will increase from £10 to £20 over Valentines weekend you could bag the deal today and freeze your selection for next weekend.
Something different- If you have some cash to spend and you want something a bit different how about posting a ‘love’ message on Piccadilly Circus , Groupon is offering this romantic gesture for £49.00.
If you want something a bit shrewder why not swap some of those Tesco points you’ve been stashing for attraction tickets to London Zoo or an Aquarium, or use your Nectar Points to pay for a Vue cinema trip.
At the end of the day nothing beats old school romance- think breakfast in bed, candles and a romantic night-in spending quality time with your loved one.
Happy Valentines Day
